Massimo Osti had a particular fondness for life vests, a fondness keenly documented in the 2012 book “Ideas by Massimo Osti.”
Over the course of his career the Italian designer amassed a wonderful collection of these garments, one which represents all manner of styles from both civilian & naval origin. This collection, now part of the Massimo Osti Archive, helped broaden Osti's understanding of maritime fabrics and construction techniques, informing various aspects of his eclectic portfolio.
Osti produced designs derived from his study of the life vest in its many forms and this great work laid significant foundation to help craft our offering, the Boneville Pilot's Vest.
Made from garment dyed parachute silk, the Pilot's Vest features oversized chest mounted pockets with side entry, a centre front zip and BNV signature luggage clasp to reinforce the front closure.
It also includes side waist adjusters to ensure a custom fit and internal wadding to promote great heat insulation. The garment dying process means the fabric picks up a wonderful array of highs and lows, giving it a sense of depth that few other processes can offer.
The Pilot’s Vest can be used as either a Kit Liner or Kit Shell; this means it can act as liner inside another garment or act as a parent garment to accept a liner.
